Nourish | Golden Milk Latte + Paste Recipe

Golden Milk Latte | The Whitefeather Journal

Tis the season! Golden milk lattes are so yummy (and healthy) and I wanted to share this paste recipe I do to make them easy! I don’t like having to measure everything out EVERY time so this paste is so awesome to make ahead and have on hand for a golden latte in minutes! Also, it totally tastes like fall.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup turmeric powder
fresh ginger (about 1 inch finely grated, I use a microplane like this)
1 tablespoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons black pepper (helps our body better absorb all the goodness of turmeric, freshly ground is best!)
1/2 teaspoon cardamom
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
3 tablespoons coconut oil

How:

  1. Pour the water into a small pan and bring to a boil.

  2. Finely grate the ginger and add it to the pan together with the turmeric powder, cinnamon, black pepper, nutmeg and coconut oil. (I generally measure out all dry ingredients and have in one bowl to pour from while I whisk)

  3. Whisk well for about half a minute until thickened. Continue stirring continuously, using a wooden spoon, on a medium-low heat for about 3-4 minutes. If the paste is too thick, add a small splash of water and continue stirring.

  4. Place the paste into the clean jars, seal and let cool. It will keep in the fridge for a several weeks.

Golden milk (my fav way):

  1. To make the golden milk, gently heat one cup of milk of choice ( I prefer coconut). The milk should not be too hot!

  2. Whisk in 1 teaspoon of the turmeric paste and honey or another sweetener of your choice. Serve immediately. (makes one serving, I typically double or triple recipe for B and the kids)

Golden tea:

  1. Stir 1 teaspoon turmeric paste into a cup of hot water.

  2. Add honey and freshly squeezed lemon to taste.
